Sony Xperia Z2 Review

0

IMG_0055 copySony surpassed many expectations with the original water-resistant Sony Xperia Z, but it was not without its issues – dodgy port covers, a lacklustre screen and a disappointing camera meant it wasn’t the Galaxy or iPhone rival that Sony had hoped.  A short year later and Sony launched the second take on their Xperia Z: the Z2. Have they managed to turn a good smartphone into a great smartphone? Read on to find out.

The Gadget Show Live @Christmas 2013

IMG_0132IT’S CHRISTMAS! Or at least it will be in less than two short months.  I’m not one for pre-empting the joys of the festive season and tend to avoid anything festive until mid-December, but a chance to play with some of the latest tech due to hit our shelves is an opportunity I’ll never pass up.  After visiting The Gadget Show Live at the NEC earlier in the year I was eager to see what the Earl’s Court London event would have in store.

The Sony Xperia Z

0

IMG_3733 copyThe Xperia T was the last top-end phone we tested from Sony and although it was great in many respects, it was an absolute dust magnet. With their newest handset the Xperia Z, they’ve made it comply with IP57 certification, making it water and dust-resistant meaning even if it does get dusty or mucky you can just wash it off under a tap. Though this feature is a great idea, how does the rest of the phone hold up? Let’s find out.

Sony Xperia T

Since parting their ways with Ericsson, Sony have moved their Android smartphones in a very positive direction.  The Xperia S was received with wide approval with an excellent camera and one of the smallest HD screens around.  The Xperia brand has continued to march onwards at a steady pace with their range of single-letter branded smartphones and their latest – The Xperia T, is apparently so good that even 007 himself gave it a go.  Not to be outdone by my fellow Brit, I took the opportunity to have a look and see if the phone really is worth of her Majesty’s secret service.

Sony Ericsson X10 – Long Term Review

1

When Android initially launched, Sony Ericsson were very quick to jump aboard the Open Handset Alliance as their previous outings in the smartphone market had been met with limited success.

The Xperia brand enjoyed very mixed critique of their previous Windows mobile handsets such as the X1, which although attracted many with its looks, soon met heavy criticism for the sluggish software and convoluted menu styling. Did they manage to do Android justice with another piece of excellent hardware, or is it another case of being blighted by slightly ropey customisations? I tested the X10 over the course of over 6 months to get a feel of how good it is in the real world.
