IMG_0042 copyHTC’s 2013 One family was finished off with the announcement of the highly rumoured “phablet” (urgggh) in October last year – The HTC One Max.  Rocking a humongous 5.9″ display, this gadget really earns it’s name. It might not be equipped with a Stylus, and it’s not quite the Aluminium unibody of the original One, but if you’re Goliath-handed or are looking for a device to meet halfway between a phone and a tablet, then read on.

IMG_4206 copyIt was only a short couple of years ago that most laughed at the massive phones that started emerging.  These ‘Phablets’ even garnered their own marginally-mocking moniker, but before too long and with the guiding hand of the original Samsung Galaxy Note sales, these over-sized handsets have found themselves settled into their own comfortable niche.  So it’s only inevitable that the less highly-regarded manufacturers have come along to the party, and here in the form of the Huawei Ascend Mate is the Chinese handset maker’s biggest handset yet. But can it go up against the likes of Samsung’s Mega or the Xperia Z Ultra – let’s take a look.
